Unit Plan Title: Puns
Unit Summary:
Students will research puns to learn meaning and examples. Students will collaborate with partners to discuss meaning of pun and share found examples. Students will observe peers in everyday environment, on a daily basis, for a week, and record in their journals any puns heard. Students will then create “favorite” pun, using technology (powerpoint, microsoft word art, mulitmedia, etc.) and present to class. Presentation must include pun, graphics, meaning, and play on word meaning.
Curriculum Framing Questions:

How does the use of puns aide in everyday life and what would happen without the use of them?
When were the earliest puns used?
Can you recite any puns? How often do you use puns? What does the pun say? What does it really mean?How do puns relate to analogies?
