Unit Plan Title:
We Share the Earth (Interdependence of plants and animals)
Unit Summary:
Students will focus on the relationships among living things and between living things and their environments. Emphasis will be on the factors that influence the normal dynamic equilibrium that exists in ecological systems.
Students will learn:
How plants and animals are dependent on each other.
What plants and animals need for survival.

Curriculum Framing Questions:
Essential Question
Why are living things dependent upon each other?

Unit Questions
What do plants and animals need? How do plants and animals get food in a grassland? How do plants and animals get food in an ocean? What can cause a food web to change? Is the first living thing in a food chain ever an animal? How do plants and animals help each other?

Content Questions
What is the difference between a producer and a consumer? Where do plants and animals get what they need to live? Why do animals need food? How does the acacia plant help an ant?
